Projects
Update: December 2008
The Prototype
Page has been added and contains some interesting
information for those who wish to model MU Hose routing
detail beneath the walkway. Check it out!
After a little hiatus, I am able to get this
thing going. I have started uploading the SD40-2 project
and I am working on uploading the history at this time.
I am trying to include as much relevant
information as I can about the SD40-2 as related to
Santa Fe units. I have hit a small snag in the modeling
area, however I will push forward as much as I can until
additional parts become available. More than likely I
will be starting another project and push forward.
Additionally, I am continuing to
work on the Topeka Cab and Low Nose Kits. Please remain
patient as this does involve a bunch of hard and time
consuming work in order to produce a quality product.
I will also be adding under the
Miscellaneous Page a short review and pre-production
photos of the SDF40-2 which will be available shortly
from Kaslo. Check the Miscellaneous Page as it contains
pictures of the sample shell.
Projects
Update: August 2008
For those of you attending the RPM Meet in
St. Louis, I will be there with the start of the SD40-2
project. I will also be displaying additional
information with a project which is in the works. I am
looking at having a low-nose conversion kit with a
Topeka cab produced to fit the Proto 2000 GP7/9. This
will fill a huge void and details will be released soon.
Santa Fe Prototypes has teamed up with Kaslo Shops and
details are being worked out as we speak. Santa Fe
Prototypes provided information to Kaslo for the SDF40-2
which is scheduled to be released very soon. I will be
bringing some cab samples of Kaslo projects to see what
type of quality these kits will be. Visit
Kaslo Shops to see some
of their work.
There has been some discussion
of producing a GP39-2 as well so voice your opinion to
Kaslo. Usually Kaslo requires a commitment of 100 units
and then the project will start so if you would like to
see both phases of Santa Fe GP39-2's on your layout, let
them know!

Louis RPM Meet, click

additional update after the meet so check back. Hope to
see you there!
Projects
Update: June 2008
Where are we at? Maybe that's the wrong
question to ask but here are the updates. I am in the
process of settling into my new home with my family and
the workshop is almost back up and running. Once we are
settled in, the wife has allowed me to resume modeling.
The pages on the SD40-2 project are almost complete to
upload and all I need to do is start photographing the
model portion of the build. My apologies to those who
have so ambitiously awaited the project kick-off, but
all in all, family comes first. One thing I can assure
you, the wait will be worth it. Please stay tuned for
the July update! My goal is to update this at least once
a month, if not twice a month once projects start
rolling.
Another project which will
commence will be the construction of Hackney, Kansas on
Free-mo modules. For those of you unfamiliar with
Hackney, it's located on the Arkansas City Sub between
Winfield and Arkansas City. You can click
here for some
additional information in the meantime.
With my re-location to
Cherryvale, I have found a local model railroad club
which is in need of a model of the Cherryvale Santa Fe
Depot. I have decided to scratch build this structure as
well and the construction will also be featured here. I
know you are wondering how am I doing all of this? Well,
quite simply my wife is being deployed to Afghanistan so
I will have lots of extra time to devote to modeling
while she is gone. So stay tuned!

Update: April 2008
After a long wait, Railflyer finally shipped
the walkway module and all I can say is WOW! I haven't
received the full order yet, but it's on the way. As
soon as the parts arrive, I will start on the SD40-2
project and begin posting the build so keep checking
back!

Upcoming Projects: February 2008
First of all,
let me thank you for visiting this website. Website
material will be added as time allows. For those of you
who know me personally, you know I have been very busy
with my new job and with my son Jacy being born. Please
continue to be patient as projects develop. I am in the
process of starting up the Santa Fe Prototypes Store.
What I will be offering will be detail parts from
manufacturers such as Cannon & Company and Railflyer
Model Prototypes.
The first project will be an
SD40-2 built from Cannon & Co. and Railflyer Model
Prototypes parts. What I am waiting on at this point are
the parts from Railflyer Model Prototypes. I will be
adding the beginning of the project within the next
couple of weeks.
There will also be additional
pages added from other well known Santa Fe modelers so
keep checking back.
